Can we Stop Crowing

"First it was heartening, then it became disconcerting and now it is downright embarrassing to listen to the constant crowing about India’s new status as a superpower. It is as if the new India doesn’t believe in itself and needs daily reaffirmation in a report from Goldman Sachs, or a certificate from Mckinsey. The hysteria in the media fed by businessmen and politicians, and wildly embraced by business editors, is dangerous. Irrational exuberance can lead to severe corrections, and then all the hype will sound worse. The humiliating collapse of the "India Shining" campaign can’t have already been forgotten........Such diehard advertising can backfire. Everyone needs to take a long, deep breath and calm down. We should celebrate the fact that India is finally moving but the backlog is so immense, it will take several decades before we can celebrate victory. In this case, do as thy neighbour – a quiet, deliberate, methodical and definitive long march. See the rest here
